学校由孙彦军(国家一级演员，经典版三国演义刘备扮演者)联合创办于2000年，是一所经广东省人民政府批准成立、教育部备案、纳入国家统一招生计划的全日制普通高等院校，坐落于广东省历史文化名城西江中游北岸，龙母的故乡肇庆市德庆县。这里距肇庆中心区88公里，距南江口(距离广州南高铁1小时)高铁站10公里，交通方便，风光秀丽，人文底蕴深厚。

学校占地面积800余亩，建筑总面积18万平方米，教学仪器设备值达到2640多万元，已建成58个校内实训室，签订129个校外实习实训基地。教学科研和生活设施齐全，能够满足艺术类专业和非艺术类专业学生的教学要求。学校共设5个二级学院，开设31个专业，打造5个高水平专业群，其中戏剧影视表演专业群获广东省第一批高水平专业群。学校现有教师近300名，其中，高级职称教师90人，占比30%；具有硕士学位教师150人，占比50%；具有博士学位教师45人，占比15%; “双师型”教师150人，占比50%；来自各行业一线的兼职教师75人，占比25%。师资队伍数量适中，结构合理，能够满足开展人才培养需要。

Established in 2000, Guangdong ATV Academy for Performing Arts is a full-time school approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, filed by the Ministry of Education and incorporated into the national unified enrollment plan. It is located in Deqing County, the famous historical and cultural city of Guangdong Province, the North Bank of the middle reaches of Xijiang River and the hometown of dragon mother. Guangdong ATV Academy for Performing Arts is 88km away from the central area of Zhaoqing and 10km away from Nanjiangkou High-Speed Railway Station. It has convenient transportation, beautiful scenery and profound cultural heritage.

Guangdong ATV Academy for Performing Arts covers an area of more than 800 mu, with a total construction area of 180,000 square meters. The value of teaching instruments and equipment has reached more than CNY 26,400,000. 58 on-campus training rooms have been built and 129 off-campus practice and training bases have been signed. The teaching, scientific research and living facilities are complete, which can meet the teaching requirements for both art majors and non art majors. Guangdong ATV Academy for Performing Arts has five secondary colleges, 25 majors and five high-level professional groups, among which the drama, film and television performance professional group has won the first batch of high-level professional groups in Guangdong Province.  Guangdong ATV Academy for Performing Arts has nearly 300 teachers, including 90 teachers with senior professional titles, accounting for 30%; 150 teachers with master's degree, accounting for 50%; 45 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 15%. There are 150 “Double Teachers”(teachers possessing both superb teaching art and practical ability), accounting for 50%; 75 part-time teachers from the front line of industry enterprises, accounting for 25%. Moderate number of teachers and reasonable structure meet the needs of talent training.
